Doire Fhíonáin (Derrynane) Beach is located in a proposed Natural Heritage Area site. It is also part of the Kenmare River SAC and the Iveragh Peninsula SPA. The area is rich in biodiversity and of significant national importance.

Doire Fhíonáin (Derrynane) is lifeguarded during the summer months. More information can be found on the noticeboard located at the beach.
