Castlelyons Dominican Friary

Though many of the facts surrounding the friary at Castlelyons are not clear, it’s believed John de Barry founded it for the Carmelites in the early 14th century. The Dominicans are thought to have inhabited the abbey at a later date.

Located just 7km south of Fermoy, County Cork, the ruins that stand today date from the 15th century and comprise nave, chancel, choir, spiral staircase, tower and grave slabs.
