The Spanish Arch

One of two remaining arches on the Ceann na Bhalla (The Head of the Wall), on the banks of the river Corrib, the Spanish Arch was built in 1584 as an extension of the town walls to protect ships moored at the nearby quay.

Today, the Spanish Arch is home to the Galway City Museum.
